With the drafts completed and no one having hinted at relocation or anything else that needs to take place during the offseason, there's no reason we can't move on to games.
The S17 Exhibition Schedule will begin on Saturday, August 21. The Regular Season schedule is being generated as I type this. After the exhibition schedule is completed, there will be one day off, then the regular season schedule will begin.
By request, the start time of the Waiver Draft has been pushed back to 8:30 PM on Monday. If the draft runs too long (and "too long" will admittedly be an entirely subjective determination), it will be paused and resumed on Tuesday night.
The Waiver Draft has been pushed back to Monday at 6:00 PM to give time for discussion of roster validity rules and any changes that may need to take place coming out of that discussion.
The Valid Roster Deadline has passed and all teams are now compliant.
Cape Breton was the only team with an invalid roster at the time of the deadline, with 25 players on their pro roster. It turns out, technically, our rulebook doesn't specify what happens in that scenario, so I applied the rules for being over the combined roster limit with some accounting for changes I had intended to make over the weekend before getting sidetracked, so to speak.
The Supplemental Draft is complete and all selected players should have been added to their respective rosters.
Next up is the Valid Roster Deadline at noon tomorrow (Thursday). I'm currently showing five teams over at least one of the various roster limits.
Alright, per brief channel discussion, we're going to try to cram in the remainder of the offseason in a couple days here.
Rescheduled Supplemental Draft: 8:00 PM Wednesday
Rescheduled Valid Roster Deadline: 12:00 PM Thursday
Rescheduled Waiver Draft: 8:30 PM Thursday
All issues with the Supplemental Draft list of available players should be resolved. As such, we're ready to move on with that on Sunday night. I don't think there's a reason to change the date, as it has always been up to teams making a selection in the Supplemental Draft to ensure that their selection was valid.
After a bunch of hiccups, re-rates are finally complete. I'll post the list of players who have ratings but who were deemed ineligible shortly. Due to the timing of re-rates in relation to the NHL schedule, there were some oddities, so I'm going over that list manually right now.
Alright, since I was the only one who raised any concerns about the CPHL ratings (and even my concerns have been somewhat assuaged by there being numbers to back up those ratings, it’s seemingly just my eye test failing) and no one rushed off to #ratings to create our own set, I guess we’re moving forward using CPHL ratings.
And that's a wrap on the Season Sixteen of the NSHL, with the Michigan Sentinels claiming their sixth Herb Brooks Memorial Trophy as champions. Congrats to the runner-up North Dakota Nighthawks on a great run and thanks to everyone for another great season.
