That's a wrap on our preseason. We're off tomorrow and then the regular season begins on Friday.
Just a heads-up, there are two teams that made it through the preseason without setting a valid game lineup. It's technically against the league rules to play a game with an invalid lineup (I usually let it slide if it's only a couple times during an injury or something like that) so please take care of that if you need to.
The Season 23 Entry Draft is complete and all eligible, rated players selected in the draft have been added to their respective rosters.
There's a list of rated players who were deemed to be ineligible in the S23 thread in the forums.
I'm happy to formally introduce @Robert Marchand as the new GM of the Portland Huskies!
I'm please to formally announce that we've filled our open GM spot. Welcome Kaiden (@KmaddFPS) to the NSHL as the new GM of the Ottawa Valley Wolfhounds!
Alright, after much struggle, re-rates have been completed and we're able to move on to the rest of our offseason.
Because of the process changes around re-rates, I want to call a couple things out. This was driven by the shuttering of the CapFriendly website, which we used to determine what a player's contract status was. For technological reasons, CapFriendly has been replaced by The Stanley Cap.
I've switched the site over into "Season 23 Mode" but we still don't have a timeline for any of our usual offseason activities. I'll try to get that sorted out ASAP but it's a little chaotic at NSHL HQ right now.
Thanks to everyone for another great season and especially to Brian Stewart and the Fort Worth Fighting Squirrels for a hard-fought Herb Brooks Memorial Trophy Finals.
With the playoffs wrapped, voting for our end-of-season awards is now open via the GM Tools. As per usual, award voting is a required action.
This officially happened yesterday but I'm happy to formally announce Sam Wright as the new GM of the Ottawa Valley Wolfhounds. Welcome to the NSHL, Sam!
The process of finding a new Wolfhounds GM really revealed some flaws in how our waiting list works. I've got some thoughts on how to fix that, mostly around asking potential GMs to explicitly confirm that they're still interested in joining the league once a year or so, since it can take so long for a team to come up. I'd probably do that over on the DFHL side, too. It's not a high priority, though, so I'm not going to be making those changes anytime soon, I just wanted to give a heads-up.
Voting for the All-Star Game roster is now open and, if our current schedule holds, will remain open until Sunday. Just a reminder, voting is a required action for everyone except for Kevin (as Sault's roster is already set).
Ottawa Valley Wolfhounds general manager Cory Jordan (Gordie) has announced his resignation from the NSHL.
We've got quite a few people on the waiting list and no pending deadlines so I'll start contacting potential replacement GMs shortly and we'll get someone in place to take over the Wolfhounds.
