I've jumped the gun a little bit and gone ahead and implemented three of the four requested franchise shifts.
The Cape Breton Capers have gone inactive, with their assets used to restore the Chicago Expos franchise, which has been renamed the Chicago Stars. In their place, the Portland Huskies have relocated to Cape Breton to become the Cape Breton Eagles. Simultaneously, the Thunder Bay Kodiaks have moved to San Antonio as the San Antonio Law.
Re-rates have been completed. As I mentioned in-channel, in an offseason where no CPHL ratings are available, we don't actually apply new ratings but I call it "re-rates" because the process of re-determining player eligibility and refreshing player vitals uses the back-end re-rate process.
With the Season Twenty-four award winners announced, the league calendar has officially moved over to Season Twenty-Five.
Coincidentally, this happens on the twenty-fifth anniversary of our sibling league's first games.
That's a wrap on Season Twenty-four. Thanks everyone for another great year and congrats to Andrew and the North Dakota Nighthawks on a hard-fought final series.
Voting for end-of-season awards is now open via the GM Tools and will remain open until noon on Thursday, January 22. As always, this is a required event.
I'm happy to announce that Aaron Borek is joining the NSHL as the new GM of the Ottawa Valley Wolfhounds. Many thanks to Jenny for stepping in to hold down the fort while we searched for a new owner for the Wolfhounds.
Voting is now open for the NSHL All-Star Roster. It will remain open until noon on the day of the All-Star Game, which is currently slated to be December 10.
As per usual, ballots can be completed via the GM Tools. Remember that voting for the All-Star Roster is a required action.
Apologies for the late announcement but we've had to make a tweak to tonight's draft. We'll be starting at 8:00 PM EDT, an hour later than originally planned.
The reason for this is that Ottawa Valley GM Guy Morin has decided to leave the league.
There wasn't a whole lot of pushback on the proposed dates for the rest of our offseason events so they've formally been added to the league calendar.
Supplemental Draft - August 18, 7:00 PM
Entry Draft - August 21, 7:00 PM
Valid Roster Deadline - August 24, 12:00 PM
Waiver Draft - August 24, 7:00 PM
Some of you have already been on top of this in Slack but I'd like to formally welcome Guy Morin as the new GM of the Ottawa Valley Wolfhounds.
With Guy in place, we've got a full slate of GMs once again and can move on with our offseason.
All of the players who were mistakenly moved to the property list during re-rates have been moved back. That doesn't mean that player eligibility is 100% accurate, though, so keep an eye out for any issues and let me know if you see them.
